Yarrr, I do enjoy bringing out my camera on ‘talk like a pirate day’ to see what kind of mischief I can get into. Not only do all the costumers come out, but the ren faires go all out in their pirate garb. If you’re lucky though you will get to find some people getting into it and going after some good ol’ pirate booty. This pair decided to commandeer the cargo hold of an old sailing vessel they had tied to the dock for the festival and christen the ship with more than just champagne.  Lucky for me they didn’t mind a shiprat sneaking up and snapping up some good pictures of the christening ceremony.

There may not have been much in the way of pirate curses and treasure this year, but there certainly was plenty of pirates moaning and shipping disrupted by their activities. Now if only there were more then one pirate day a year!

The weather changes, everything turns lovely and warm, you get all sorts of furs out and about enjoying the beginnings of the season and the warm weather. I was walking through the park just after sunup and caught these two celebrating the change of the seasons in their own way. No one else was around, but I had my camera with me as always, and they certainly didn’t seem to mind if I memorialized the occasion. They told me they did this every year, find a nice public place to enjoy themselves and enjoy the weather. It is also in their tradition to invite anyone that finds them to join them in their little ritual, so once I had finished taking my pictures, I joined in the fun!

This couple told me of some of their other holiday rituals, and promised to let me photograph more of them and their friends. When I took those pictures, I put them here, so take a look inside if you want to see!
